Our story,

a true story

Born in Port-Vendres, Anne Couderc grew up happy and carefree in a timeless region at the foot of the Pyrenees. She went on to study economics and management in Montpellier, where she then worked for ten years in a major regional bank. She then settled in La Ciotat with her husband, Stéphane, to start a family and raise their three children. It was here that the idea of transforming boat sails was born. When her friend set off on a round-the-world voyage in 2002, she made bags from her used sails to accompany her on her journey. The bags went around the world, and other bags followed, for swimming, sailing... The pleasure of creating new products, always unique, and the encouragement of those around her encouraged Anne to go further. It was in 2005 that the business was launched from a professional angle, when she entered a business incubator to help the project take shape. The Les Toiles du Large trademark was registered in spring 2006. Sail collection was organized: the "one sail, one bag" concept was announced: each sail donor would receive a bag made from his or her own sail. Anne's desire for social and ecological solidarity led her to partner with local sheltered workshops, where disabled people sew the products and fit them with eyelets and press studs. It was in this authentic, human spirit that Les Toiles du Large was born in the spring of 2007. As the company grew, Stéphane joined the ship in early 2010. In 2012, Les Toiles du Large moved into the Armement building, on the La Ciotat shipyard site, to set up its first Atelier-Boutique. In 2015, the second Atelier-Boutique opened under the Voûtes de la Major in Marseille. Another historic location in an emblematic district of Marseille. Since the beginnings of Toiles du Large in 2002, the philosophy has remained unchanged: to sublimate sails. Only the position of the seams, eyelets and sailing scars give the creations their character, elegance and evoke memories of a former life.
